GPScope uses your iPhone's location, heading, and supported pressure sensors to display altitude, speed, coordinates, GPS accuracy, compass direction, atmospheric pressure, and relative altitude. No account is required.

Allow location access while using the App when prompted. Pressure and relative altitude are available only on devices that include compatible barometer hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does GPScope keep searching for a GPS signal?

GPS reception can be weak indoors, underground, between tall buildings, or near large structures. Move to an open outdoor area, make sure Location Services are enabled, and allow the App a short time to obtain an accurate fix.

How do I enable or restore location access?
  1. Open iPhone Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Location Services.
  3. Select GPScope.
  4. Choose While Using the App and enable Precise Location.

Return to GPScope after changing the setting.

Why is the altitude or GPS accuracy changing?

GPS measurements naturally vary with satellite visibility, signal reflections, weather, device orientation, and surroundings. The horizontal and altitude accuracy indicators show the estimated uncertainty reported by iOS. GPScope is a general information tool and is not a surveying or safety-critical instrument.

Why is speed unavailable while I am standing still?

iOS provides speed only when it has a valid location update and detects movement. A stationary device, weak GPS reception, or an initial GPS fix may result in an unavailable value. Move in an open area and wait for accuracy to improve.

Why is the compass direction inaccurate?

Keep the iPhone away from magnets, speakers, metal surfaces, vehicles, and magnetic cases. If iOS requests calibration, move the phone in a figure-eight pattern. Compass accuracy may also be affected indoors or near electrical equipment.

Why are pressure and relative altitude unavailable?

These readings require a compatible barometer. They may not be available on every device or in the iOS Simulator. Relative altitude is measured from the current sensor session and may reset when GPScope restarts or returns after being inactive.

Can GPScope work without an internet connection?

Yes. Core GPS and device-sensor features can operate offline. Satellite reception and device hardware determine which readings are available. When the device is online, limited analytics information may be sent to Microsoft Clarity as explained in the Privacy Policy.

How do I change units or language?

Open GPScope Settings to select length, speed, and pressure units or follow your system settings. You can also choose a supported App language or follow the iPhone's language automatically.

How do I hide my coordinates?

Open GPScope Settings and turn off Show Coordinates in the Privacy section. Latitude and longitude will then be hidden from the main dashboard.

How do I add or remove a custom background?

In GPScope Settings, choose Select Image, adjust the image, and confirm the preview. To remove it, use the delete button beside Background Image. GPScope receives only the image you select through Apple's system photo picker.

What should I try if the App is not updating?
  1. Confirm that GPScope has location permission.
  2. Move to an open area with a clearer view of the sky.
  3. Close and reopen GPScope.
  4. Restart the iPhone if sensor readings remain unavailable.
  5. Install the latest available iOS and GPScope updates.
