This Privacy Policy explains how GPScope ("GPScope," "we," "us," or "our")
handles information when you use the GPScope mobile application (the "App").
GPScope displays GPS and device-sensor readings and uses Microsoft Clarity to
help us understand and improve the App experience.
1. Information We Handle
GPScope does not require you to create an account. The App requests only the
device access needed for its features. Some information remains on your device,
while limited analytics information is transmitted to Microsoft Clarity as
described below.
Location data
With your permission, the App accesses precise location readings such as
latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, course, heading, and GPS accuracy to
show them on the dashboard. GPScope does not store a location history or
send precise latitude and longitude to our own servers.
Motion and pressure data
On supported devices, the App accesses motion-sensor and barometer readings
to display atmospheric pressure and relative altitude. These readings are
processed for App functionality.
Photos you select
If you choose a custom background, the App receives only the photo you select
through Apple's system photo picker. A resized copy is stored locally in the
App's private storage. We do not upload the original photo file or its locally
stored copy to our servers. A visual representation of screens where the photo
appears may be processed by Clarity as described below.
Preferences
Language, unit, appearance, coordinate-visibility, and background preferences
are stored locally on your device so the App can remember your choices.
2. Offline Use
GPScope's core GPS and device-sensor features can operate without an internet
connection. Precise coordinates, sensor readings, preferences, and selected
background files are processed locally for these features. GPS availability and
accuracy still depend on your device, surroundings, and satellite reception.
When an internet connection is available, limited analytics information may be
transmitted to Microsoft Clarity as described in this Privacy Policy. The Clarity
iOS SDK does not upload sessions that occur while the device is offline.
3. Analytics and Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity for Mobile Apps to understand how people
interact with GPScope, diagnose usability issues, and improve performance and
design. Clarity begins operating when the App starts and may process:
product interactions, including screens visited, taps, touches, and similar usage events;
low-level visual and interaction signals used to reconstruct app sessions and create heatmaps;
performance information used to assess SDK and App stability; and
coarse location inferred from the network IP address.
According to Microsoft's App Store privacy guidance, this information is used for
analytics, is not linked to your identity, and is not used for cross-app tracking.
GPScope does not provide Clarity with a custom user ID. The App masks the precise
latitude/longitude card and the custom background as displayed on the main
dashboard. Other screens where a selected photo appears, and other information
visible in the interface—such as altitude, speed, pressure, settings, and general
interaction patterns—may be represented in Clarity's session reconstruction. The
original selected photo file is not intentionally transmitted to Clarity.
provide GPS, compass, speed, altitude, accuracy, pressure, and personalization features;
remember your settings and selected background;
understand feature usage and improve the App's design and usability;
monitor performance, reliability, and security; and
respond to support, privacy, or legal requests.
We do not sell your personal information and do not use App information for targeted advertising.
5. How Information Is Shared
We share limited analytics information with Microsoft solely because Microsoft
provides the Clarity analytics service. Microsoft processes that information
under its applicable terms and privacy commitments. We may also disclose
information when required by law, to protect users or the security of the App, or
as part of a business reorganization where legally permitted and subject to
appropriate safeguards.
We require service providers that process information on our behalf, including
Microsoft, to provide the same or an equivalent level of protection described in
this Privacy Policy and required by applicable Apple policies and data-protection law.
We do not upload precise GPS coordinates or selected background photos to
advertisers or data brokers. Local preference files are not uploaded to our
servers, although interactions with settings may appear in Clarity analytics.
6. Retention and Deletion
On-device information: preferences and a selected background
remain until you change or remove them, reset the App's data, or uninstall the App.
Live sensor information: GPScope does not create a route or
historical location log. Live readings are refreshed as the App runs.
Clarity information: Microsoft currently states that session
playback data is generally retained for 30 days, while heatmaps, labeled or
favorited sessions, and interaction data may be retained for up to 9 months.
Microsoft may update these periods under its own retention policy.
You can remove a custom background from GPScope Settings. Deleting the App removes
its locally stored information from your device. To request deletion of information
we control, contact us using the details below. Because Clarity analytics is not
linked to an account or identity, we may need additional technical information and
may not always be able to associate an analytics record with a particular person.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Location: grant or revoke location access at any time in iOS
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > GPScope.
Coordinates: hide latitude and longitude on the GPScope
dashboard from the App's Privacy setting.
Photos: GPScope uses Apple's system picker and receives only the
item you select. You can remove the saved background in GPScope Settings.
Analytics: uninstalling the App stops future Clarity collection.
You may also contact us with an analytics objection or deletion request.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction,
deletion, restriction, or objection regarding personal information, or to lodge a
complaint with a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise an applicable right. We
may need to verify your request and may retain limited information where required by law.
8. International Data Transfers
Microsoft may process Clarity information in countries other than the country where
you live. Where required, the parties responsible for processing rely on lawful
transfer mechanisms and safeguards under applicable data-protection law. See the
Microsoft Privacy Statement for more information.
9. Children's Privacy
GPScope is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13, or
the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly request a child's name,
contact details, or account information. If you believe a child has provided
personal information through a support request, contact us so we can review and
delete it where appropriate.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the
information handled through GPScope. However, no device, storage system, or network
transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to GPScope, third-party
services, or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy at this location
and revise the effective date above. If a change materially affects your rights,
we will provide additional notice where required.
